Alec Wilkinson, author of The Protest Singer: An Intimate Portrait of Pete Seeger, visited Seeger at his home in Beacon, NY. Out of their conversation came a series of videos ranging from such topics as Bruce Springsteen to Thoreau. This week, Alec and Pete talked about The Byrds’ excellent rendition of Pete Seeger’s classic song, “Turn, Turn, Turn!”
Each week, we will be revealing another video from Wilkinson’s visit, culminating in a special performance from Pete Seeger on his birthday, May 3rd.
To be a part of Seeger’s birthday celebration, check out the event on Facebook. Otherwise, stay tuned here for more videos!

We sang “Turn, Turn, Turn” and a couple of other Seeger songs at our church service yesterday (Old Ship Church, Hingham, MA) in honor of his 90th birthday, and the sermon (by Rev. Ken Read-Brown, a long-time Seeger fan) was on “Aging With Spirit.” It was an inspiring service, and Pete Seeger has been inspiring me since the 1950s.
Meeting & listening to Pete changed my life – for the better
