It’s December 1997, and a man-eating tiger is on the prowl outside a remote village in Russia’s Far East. The tiger isn’t just killing people, it’s annihilating them, and a team of men and their dogs must hunt it on foot through the forest in the brutal cold. I just finished Jon Vaillant’s book, “The Tiger”. I wasn’t sure I could get through it, even though it is a beautifully written, extremely detailed account of an exquisite animal and the brave people of a region I had no idea existed. I am so glad I did. The climax was so powerful my heart about jumped out of my chest. What wonderful writing, and so informative.
